Jewel Bass Left Handed

After doing this for 18 years it was definitely time I added a Jazz style bass to my range. I’d been thinking about doing this for some time when Mike (owner of this bass) got in touch about a commission of a J style bass. Fortunately it wasn’t an exact copy he was after, so this my opportunity to draw up something with obvious Jazz influence, yet still original.

Flamed English Maple body

Compared to a standard Jazz the waist has been reduced and the offset of the body slightly exaggerated. The horns and cutaway have also been slightly revised for better high fret access, along with an all access body heel joint. All of this combined gives a more modern, curvy flowing look to the bass, yet the Jazz influence is still clear. Especially as this one was commissioned with a pickguard (also different) and control plate which adds to the traditional look.

The bass features native woods only - everything was grown here in the UK. The body is made of some extremely flamed English Maple from South Wales. The 3 piece laminate neck from Staffordshire. And Bog oak from 3000BC for the fretboard.
